The goal of the “Leadership for Africa” (LfA) scholarship program is to give young academics from Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Mauritania—as well as refugees—the vital support they need to pursue their academic goals. Requirements for DAAD Masters Scholarship Program
The DAAD Masters Scholarship programme is suited to two categories of applicants.
1. Refugees with High Qualification:
- Persons who have been granted refugee status in the respective countries of refuge and the refugee status was issued before April 2, 2023.
- Applicant’s place of asylum has to be Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana or Mauritania.
- Should have completed an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree by the time of application for DAAD scholarships.
2. Highly Qualified Graduates from Targeted Countries:
Applicants from Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, or Mauritania must meet the following qualifications for Master’s studies in Germany:
- A graduate should possess at least a bachelor’s degree required by German universities for admission into a master’s program.
- Their bachelor’s degrees must be graded as second class upper (at least) division level on completion.
- No more than six years should pass after completing previous academic degrees.
Use English or German language very well.
For refugee applicants:
A Refugee ID card copy obtained prior to 2nd April 2023
- Citizenship will be from Benin, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana or Mauritania
- For those applying to this program they should be residents and citizens from any of the above countries

Why you Should Apply

German Language Course: Before the start of their study program, scholars have the option to spend up to six months in Germany attending a German language course.
