Indigenous Scholarship Value and Breakdown

The UK scholarship provided is worth an astounding £34,225 and provides comprehensive financial support to students enrolled in the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program. Scholarship fnds are allocated as follows: 

Tuition fee “£11,340”: The scholarship covers the entire cost of UK tuition fees, allowing students to concentrate on their studies without the stress of tuition costs. 

Maintenance grant “£18,985”: This award is meant to support living expenses and is paid in installments during the course of the program. It assists students with housing, food, and other daily expenses, allowing them to maintain a reasonable living standard while studying.

Conference Funding Up to “£2,200”: Scholarship awardees receive up to £2,200 to attend an international conference on artificial intelligence and/or machine learning. This grant covers travel, lodging, and conference fees, giving students significant networking and learning opportunities within the global AI community. 

Equipment allowance “£1,700”: An additional £1,700 is set aside for the purchase of critical equipment, such as a decent laptop or other necessary tools. This ensures that students have the necessary technical resources to complete their studies and research.

International Scholarship Value and Breakdown

The International fellowship, worth £56,525, offers considerable financial assistance to international students enrolled in the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program. Scholarship funds are allocated as follows: 

International tuition fee £31,410: The scholarship covers the entire cost of international tuition fees, reducing the financial burden of studying abroad and allowing students to concentrate solely on their academic studies. 

Maintenance Grant £19,345: This award is intended to support living expenses and is paid in installments during the course of the program. It assists students in managing expenses such as housing, food, and other daily necessities, allowing them to live comfortably while studying.

Conference Funding Up to £2,200: Scholarship awardees receive up to £2,200 to attend an international conference on artificial intelligence and/or machine learning. This grant covers travel, lodging, and conference expenses, giving students excellent chances to network, learn, and present their work on a global scale. 

Equipment allowance £1,700: An additional £1,700 is set aside for the purchase of critical equipment, such as a decent laptop or other necessary tools. This guarantees that students have the necessary technical resources for their coursework and research activities. 

Relocation assistance costs £1,870: To help with the transition to studying in the UK, the scholarship grants £1,870 to cover relocation expenses. This can include fees for travel, first lodging, and adjusting to a new environment.

DeepMind Scholarship 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who want to apply for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:  

  • The applicants must identify as female. 
  • Applicants must demonstrate, if necessary, that they would be unable to accept the offer of admission without financial aid. This could include submitting financial statements, evidence of income, or other pertinent documents.

Also, applicants must: 

  • Have already got a conditional or unconditional offer to pursue an MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham.
  • Be classified as an international student for fee-paying purposes.

Selection Process and deadlines

UK Applicants

  • UK applicants must submit their scholarship applications before Sunday, 18th August 2024
  • Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews by the end of August 2024.

International Applicants

  • International applicants must submit their scholarship application before Sunday, 21st July 2024
  • Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews at the end of July 2024.

Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel at the School of Computer Science. The panel will shortlist candidates based on the above eligibility criteria. Applicants may also be required to provide additional supporting documentation and evidence to substantiate their eligibility and financial need.
