For the academic year 2024–2025, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is pleased to announce the opening of the NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Program. The purpose of this program is to give Niger Delta-based Nigerian students the chance to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees overseas.
As part of their dedication to human resource development, the NDDC aims to equip Niger Delta residents with the know-how and abilities needed to successfully engage in the Federal Government’s Local Content initiative and succeed internationally in a variety of professional fields.

Available Courses for NDDC Postgraduate Scholars
Students from the Niger Delta region of Nigeria have the opportunity to pursue higher degrees in a variety of subjects under the NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. The following courses are eligible for the scholarship program:
1. Agricultural sciences: This field includes agronomy, animal science, crop science, soil science, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics, and agricultural extension services, among other subjects. Researchers in this field concentrate on improving rural development, sustainability, and agricultural output.
2. Engineering: Civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, and petroleum engineering are just a few of the many specializations that fall under the umbrella of engineering. Engineering scholars has the expertise to plan, build, and operate the equipment, systems, and infrastructure necessary for the advancement of society.
3. Engineering Sciences: This group encompasses multidisciplinary areas that integrate scientific and engineering concepts. Materials science and engineering, bioengineering, environmental engineering, and nanotechnology are a few examples. Engineering science academics provide contributions to problem-solving and technological innovation in a variety of industries.
4. Geosciences: The fields of geology, geophysics, hydrology, and environmental geosciences are all included in the geosciences. In this branch of study, environmental sustainability, resource management, and geological exploration are prioritized along with an examination of the Earth’s structure, processes, and natural resources.
5. Information technology: This is a broad field that includes data science, cybersecurity, information systems, computer science, and software engineering. Information technology academics gain proficiency in creating, executing, and overseeing technological solutions that are essential to contemporary enterprises, organizations, and society.
Law: The legal sector covers a wide range of topics, including international law, intellectual property law, economic law, environmental law, and human rights legislation. Legal scholars concentrate on the legal norms, policies, and procedures that control many facets of the economy, society, and government.
Medical Science: Medicine, pharmacy, nursing, public health, biomedical sciences, and healthcare administration are all included in the medical sciences. The improvement of illness prevention, medical research, and health policy development are all facilitated by medical science scholars.
2024/ 2025 NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship Requirements
The NDDC Postgraduate Scholarship has specific requirements that applicants must meet to be eligible for consideration:
- Academic Qualifications:
- For Master’s Degree: Applicants must have a first degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognized university.
- For PhD Candidates: A good Master’s Degree from a recognized university is required.
- Admission:
- Applicants must have gained admission for a Postgraduate Programme in one of the eligible disciplines at a foreign university.
- Enrollment Status:
- Applicants who are already enrolled in overseas universities are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Guarantor’s Consent:
- A written consent of good conduct from a guarantor is required. The guarantor must be from the applicant’s community/clan and can be one of the following:
- Member of National Assembly/State House of Assembly
- Chairman of the LGA
- First Class Traditional Ruler
- High Court Judge

- Character and Record:
- Applicants with evidence of cult membership or a criminal record will not be considered for the scholarship.
- National Youth Service (NYSC):
- Applicants must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
- Indigene Requirement:
- Applicants must be indigenes of one of the following Niger Delta states in Nigeria:
- Akwa Ibom State
- Bayelsa State
- Cross River State
- Delta State
- Edo State
- Rivers State
- Applicants must be indigenes of one of the following Niger Delta states in Nigeria:

- Recent Passport Photograph
- Local Government Identification Letter
- Postgraduate Admission Letter from a recognized Overseas University
- Relevant Degrees from Recognized Universities
- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge/Exemption Certificate
